Prevent Loss in Battery Power

The life cycle of a HP Pavilion dm4 battery is defined as the number of times you can charge your battery to more than 80 percent of its original, maximum capacity. According to Electropaedia, the normal lifetime of a battery is 500 to 1,200 cycles. The more you use and recharge your battery, the more the battery's capacity will reduce. The loss of battery power is a gradual process. The battery eventually will hold only hold 80 percent of its original capacity, and slowly decline to 60 percent or less, until it no longer works at all. Physical and chemical changes prevent batteries from lasting forever. To get the most out of your batteries' life cycles, follow several steps.

Instructions
1
Keep lithium-ion batteries cool. Heat strains the battery and reduces its power level. According to Electropaedia, "Chemical reactions internal to the battery are driven either by voltage or temperature." When the battery is hot, the internal chemical reactions speed up; this increases performance at the expense of decreasing the battery's life. According to the Battery Education website, "At higher temperatures, the self-discharge on all battery chemistries increases ... Once a battery exhibits high self-discharge, little can be done to reverse the effect."

2
Avoid frequently running the battery down to no power. Fully discharging the battery strains it. The Battery University website recommends partially using the battery then recharging it often, especially for lithium-ion (these HP Pavilion dv9500 battery don't have a "memory" to decrease). Short laptop battery life is caused primarily by heat, not charging lengths. Extend your battery's lifespan by not regularly running it down to zero power.

3
Calibrate batteries with their power gauges (for example, the laptop gauge that measures the percentage of power left on the battery). Unless appropriately calibrated, the gauge will lose accuracy with frequent use. Once a month, run the battery down to zero power. This will reset and calibrate the power gauge so you can accurately measure the power usage.

4
Remove and clean your laptop battery when you're connected to an external power source. Wipe the battery and slot space to stop dust and moisture accumulation. This ensures nothing interferes with the distribution of power from the battery.

5
Store a spare lithium-ion battery in a sealed bag in a refrigerator. Don't freeze it, but keep the spare cool while saving it for when your primary battery no longer effectively works.

6
Ensure your charger is approved for use with your battery. If the charger operates at an inappropriate charge rate or sends the wrong voltage, it can decrease the battery's lifespan. According to Electropaedia, keep the HP Pavilion g6 battery cells "within their desired operating limits during both charging and discharging."

Laptop Charging Problems

Sustaining Dell XPS 15 battery power is important to keeping your laptop running, especially when it is to be used in places where an electrical output may not be readily available. Laptop owners will find it difficult to prepare for ventures outside of their home or office if they are experiencing problems charging their laptops. Toshiba laptops are known for their charging issues, making it important for owners to be aware of the laptop's possible problems.

Symptoms
Toshiba laptop charging issues are easily detected because of their noticeable symptoms. Indications of charging issues include the laptop shutting down at random times without warning, or the power and HP 484170-001 battery charge LED flickering every time the cord is wiggled or shook. Also, because the battery takes time to charge, whenever you plug the AC adapter in, the laptop may seem to be dead due to the absence of LED activity.

Cause
The reason behind most Toshiba laptop charging problems is a poor connection between the computer's system board and the DC-IN power jack. Most Toshiba laptop owners experiencing problems will see that the there is a crack found between the connection of the power jack pin and system board upon opening up the unit. This is a quite common problem with Toshiba laptops, however, there are times when owners will find the power jack broken without disrupting the charging process.

Repair
The only way to fix charging issues involving cracks between the system board and the power jack pin is by re-soldering. Partially broken connections can be resolved by a simple re-soldering of the power jack pin, but if the power jack is completely broken or burnt, the pin must be replaced.

Warning
There are times when Toshiba laptops still refuse to charge even after the replacement of the power jack pin. This can be explained by the presence of other cracks in the system board. The top part of the board may have been re-soldered when replacing the jack, but there may also be cracks at the bottom of the board which need to be re-soldered as well. Toshiba laptop owners can test to see if the motherboard receives power by using a multimeter. If it shows that there is no power in the board, this indicates that the bottom part has issues as well. HP G62 battery

Tips
When repairing your Toshiba laptop, it is recommended that you remove the motherboard from its case to have a better view of the problem. From the bottom of the board, you will be able to see if the power jack is indeed broken, as the "+" pin is already cracked. In this case, you will have to replace the power jack pin.

Fix the Batteries of Laptop

Asus A32-K72 battery are known for high replacement costs and a relatively short service life. Laptops are run on lithium-ion batteries that should last for 2 to 3 years. Cell oxidation results in capacity loss, and the battery may not be able to deliver enough power even though it has energy remaining. Buying batteries can be costly. Fortunately, fixing them yourself is a cheaper alternative.

Instructions
1
Remove the battery and open it gently; be careful not to damage any internal part. Open the laptop at the back or bottom and you should find six lithium-ion batteries.

2
Check the voltage with a voltmeter for Asus A42-G74 battery power. There is a high chance that the batteries will be dead.

3
Unsolder all the wires carefully and make a particular note of where they all go. Use of a diagram so you know the polarity and acquaint yourself with the connection of wires when you put them all back together.

4
Make sure that the polarity is correct and then begin tinning the tabs. After the batteries are well-soldered, put them in the unit, and start soldering the rest of the wires.

5
Snap the Asus A42-M70 battery back together again very carefully and then slide it back in the laptop, apply power and charge it for 18 hours. Your laptop should be ready to get back to work.

Prolong the Life of My Laptop Battery

Asus A42-G74 battery, commonly made from lithium ion, can be expensive to replace when they fail or wear out. Storage, use, power settings and software affect the way batteries use their charge. Excess heat is one of the most draining elements to a laptop battery, so take advantage of power-saving options on your laptop. According to the Zbattery website, lithium ion batteries usually last two to four years, and contain 300 to 500 charges. Prolong the life of your laptop battery by utilizing special techniques and precautions.

Instructions
1
Use the laptop on a hard surface. This allows proper air circulation and prevents overheating. Avoid using the laptop in temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

2
Remove the battery when using AC power. Once the battery is fully charged, there is no need to keep it plugged in. Residual charge drains the battery slowly, so when the battery isn't needed, take it out of the laptop and store it in a cool, safe place.

3
Allow the Asus A42-M70 battery to drain completely before recharging. This allows you to take advantage of the limited number of charge cycles the battery contains.

4
Limit the amount of applications, programs and external devices used on the laptop at one time. Close anything that doesn't need to run. Multitasking causes the processor to run too hard, producing higher heat inside the laptop and draining the battery power.

5
Use your laptop's power control program to automatically save power. Reduce the backlight on your laptop when it runs on battery power. Set the standby and hibernate modes for when you take breaks from working on the laptop.

6

Determine the Battery's Condition in a Dell Latitude D830

A Dell Latitude D830 is a laptop designed for professionals using or running high-end graphics. The laptop can be powered using an AC power adapter and an electrical outlet, or a Lenovo Laptop Battery. The laptop battery powers the laptop when it's not plugged into an AC adapter. This allows the laptop to become portable and not be dependent on an electrical outlet. Therefore, it's important to determine the battery's condition and whether the battery needs to be replaced.

Instructions
1
Turn off the laptop by pressing the "Power" button. Remove the AC power adapter.

2
Flip the laptop upside down and place on a flat surface. Slide the battery lock to the side and hold in place with one hand. Use your other hand to pivot the battery upward for removal. Release the battery lock.

3
Examine the battery. Look for sizable dings and dents on the battery's surface, and corrosion, dings or signs of damage on the battery contacts. If damage is observed, the battery should be replaced.

4
Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Clean the battery contacts and battery bay contacts with the cotton swab. Dampen a cloth with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Clean the battery and battery bay to remove dust. Allow the battery and battery bay to completely air dry.

5
Place the battery back into the Dell Latitude D830. Align the contacts on the Asus Laptop Battery and battery bay, then push the battery into position. The battery lock will snap, locking the battery into place.

6
